The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in HNB Garhwal University was established in 1996 to explore the hidden potential of serene Himalayas, which is, also rich in valuable medicinal herbs. The degree course in Pharmacy was introduced keeping in view its vast scope encompassing Production, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Administration, Academics, Product Management, Marketing and Research and Development and to explore the herbal wealth of the Himalayan region. Its main building is situated in the heart of the main campus.
Pharmaceutical Department of Garhwal University holds the honor of being the first Institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) in Uttarakhand apart from being approved by AICTE as well. A sizable number of students of department have qualified GATE examination securing high percentile since its existence in year 1996. In the year 2005 as many as 12 students have qualified GATE. The students of all the batches have excelled in the field of pharmacy and allied areas. They have been selected for pursuing Master’s Degree in Pharmacy and other allied subjects viz Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Management etc in the institutes of national and international repute. The alumni of the department are well placed in pharmaceutical and allied industries like Food and Drug Administration, Academia, Research Organizations, Regulatory affairs, Community Pharmacy etc.

Duration: I Year
Eligibility: Should have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) examination of Uttarakhand Board, Nainital or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics and English as subjects of study in intermediate and secured atleast 50% marks for General Category and 45% marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination may also apply.
B.Pharma II Year (Lateral Entry)
Eligibility: Pharmacy with 60% marks from recognized institute and 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry with 50% marks for General Category and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates. Candidate appearing for D. Pharm. final examination may also apply.
