Pushkar Singh Dhami is will set to sworn in as the new chief minister of Uttarakhand. He will have a little more than 8 months of chief-ministership as the new assembly elections in Uttarakhand are due in Mar 2022.
He will be succeeding outgoing chief minister, Tirath Singh Rawat who resigned yesterday.
Who is Pushkar Singh Dhami?
Pushkar Singh Dhami is a sitting MP from Khatima constituency in Udham Singh Nagar district.
He was first elected to Uttarakhand state assembly in 2012 and again in 2017
Born in Pithoragarh district in 1975, Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand at the age of 45.
Dhami started his political with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student wing of BJP.
He had been the president of BJP’s Uttarakhand Yuva Morcha twice.
He has also served as Officer on Special Duty to Bhagat Singh Koshiyari when he was the chief minister of Uttarakhand.
On the education front, Pushkar Singh Dhami is a law graduate (LLB From Lucknow University, Lucknow in 2002)
