Located in the Pithoragarh district in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Nagalaphu reaches an altitude of 6,410 metres (21,030 ft) above sea level. It is the part of Himalayan mountain massif that divides Lassar-Darma valley and Ralam-Gori Ganga valley. In the south of Nagalaphu, one can have a panoramic view of the five peaks of Panchchuli. It lies in the Panchchuli region of peaks in Kumaon.
