Situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, Kuchela Dhura is a peak located at the right bank of Lwa Glacier or left bank of Shalang glacier. This peak is surrounded by Nanda Kot. It lies in the Nanda Devi group of mountains.
HISTORY
In 2012, Indian Mountaineering Federation sent a team of 8 members to summit Kuchela Dhura. The team ascended via west ridge but failed to summit the peak, just short of 500m.IMF again sent an expedition in August-September 2013 in hopes of reaching the summit this time around. The team comprised of 10 members. Four of the 10 members, namely Dhruv Joshi, Wallambok Lyngdoh, Chitramohan and Vijay Rautela successfully scaled the mountain on 6 September, 2013 and made the first international and national ascent of the Kuchela Dhura peak.

HOW TO REACH
The nearest place which is accessible through motorable road is Munsiyari. This place is starting point of many treks into the Kumaon Himalayas.
- ROAD: Munsiyari is very well connected to all the important town and cities in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Buses and taxis are easily available from Kathgodam, the major transport junction for the Kumaun Hills.
- RAIL: Ramnagar railway station is the nearest railway station from Munsiyari from where you can commute to all important cities. You can take a bus, taxi or any other mode of transport to reach here.
- AIR: Pantnagar Airport is the closest airport from Munsiyari located at a distance of about 188 kilometers. With the available means of transport you can easily reach the airport which is well maintained and ensures convenience.
