Niti is a small village located in the Niti valley of Joshimath. Niti is the last village and outpost in Indo-Tibetan border in Chamoli district. At an height of 3600 mtrs, Niti is situated near southern Tibetan border.
The Niti Pass located at 5800 mtrs connects India with Tibet. During winters, Niti village and valley is covered with heavy snow. The villagers of Niti still follow the traditional methods of lifestyle in the mountains.

Send Enquiry for Tour PackagesDuring winters, Niti village inhabitants move to lower Himalayas in the valley and resides in alternative villages. When snow melts down and summer season starts, Niti village is once again filled with inhabitants. Generally from April to October, Niti village is populated by the locals.
There are some other villages near Niti such as Gamshali, Bampa, Farkya, Kailashpur, Maher Gaun, Malari, Kosha, Jhelam, Tolma, Lata, Fagti, Raini, Timmersen Mahadev and Tapovan.
Tourists can visit some places near Niti village like Niti temple, Faila temple in Gamshali, Panchnag Temple in Bampa, Pyaar the grass land, Malari, Dronagiri mountain, Nanda Devi temple, Nanda Devi National Park, Joshimath and Tapovan.
Note: No permission required to visit the valley except the last village “Niti”. Tourist visiting Niti Village will have to take permission from SDM, Joshimath.
Accommodation in Niti Valley: The only place in Niti Valley where you will find plenty of hotels and resorts is in Joshimath. You can stay at Joshimath Hotels and visit Niti Valley for a day tour. As of now there are no private hotel in the interior of Niti Valley, but you will find Government guest house which is built at Gamshali Village which is just 5 kms before Niti Village. You can also find some homestays in the valley.
Niti Valley is located in Near Joshimath in Niti Valley ( 5 kms far from Gamshali Village).
Niti village is located at 88 km from Joshimath and once can reach by hiring taxi from Joshimath till Bampa village and then 6 km trek to Niti village (if road is not blocked or damage then vehicles can reach Niti).
Niti pass is located at few kilometers from Niti village and no one allowed except ITBP and Army to go to Niti pass. Nearest rail connectivity is at Dehradun (380 kms) or Rishikesh railway station (346 kms). Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (362 kms) is the only airport to reach near Joshimath.
