This adventurous activity takes place in Auli, which is around 16 kilometers from Joshimath. If you want to enjoy the eternal bliss of snow then visit this place from December end to March. Auli is often compared with best ski resorts of the world by foreigners, and its slopes provide enough thrills to professional skier and beginner as well. All facilities for skiing are available from Gharwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GMVNL) with certificate courses ranging from 4 days to 14 days, which include staying, food, ski gear charges, and guide.
Joshimath is the base for trekking routes like Gorson Bugyal, Kuari Pass, Kagbhusandi tal, Hemkunth Sahib, Govind Ghat and Valley of flowers. You can take a taxi or a bus until Govind Ghat, which is around 26 kilometers from Joshimath. From there, start trekking uphill to Govind Dham, which is 13 kilometers away. Camping or lodging within the Valley of Flowers is not permitted. The sight of the colorful valley filled with blooming flowers surrounded by snow-capped peaks is truly mesmerizing.
Auli is one of the most popular places in Uttarakhand that attracts many tourists throughout the year. Auli is situated very close to the Joshimath, it is famous for its winter sports. Skiing in Auli in winter is one of the best activities which is loved by most of the tourists. Auli offers long slopes for Skiing in winters. It is one of the best activities to do while traveling or staying in Joshimath in the winter season.
In respect to the village and rural tourism, Joshimath comes second to none. There are many picturesque villages and hamlets in and around Joshimath that offer a sneak peek into the culture, traditional and lifestyle prevailing in the region. This ropeway takes around 15 to 20 minutes to reach Auli from Joshimath. At a time it can carry around 25 passengers. The ride to Auli costs INR 500 including the return journey to Joshimath.
