About Ghandiyal Mela
The Ghandiyal Devta Raj Jaat is organized in every alternate six and 12 years. The Fair is organized at Ghandiyal Dhaar in Lostu Badiyargarh in Tehri district of Uttarakhand. The mela take place in honour of Ghandiyal devta. Mela goes on for 9 days and 9 nights.
Ghandiyal Devta is a very renowned God and is worshipped very religiously in Tehri & other regions of Uttarakhand. It is believed that Ghandiyal devta is the incarnation of Lord Abhimanyu and was a devotee of Lord Shiva. He is worshipped as rashak dev-‘the divine protector’.
Devotees with high religious spirit participate in the temple fair and perform rituals. People dress up in colorful clothes and rejoice the devotional environment of the Ghandiyal fair. Devotees very religiously perform puja rituals and holy yagya also takes place. People of the nearby villages like Lostu, Badiyargarh, Dagar, Hindau, Faigul, Nailchami etc participate in the Ghandiyal Fair. It is the deep adoration for Ghantakarn devta that attract people to Ghandiyal Fair in Lostu.
How to Reach Ghandiyal Dhar
Reach at Rishikesh by morning from New Delhi. Take morning buses to Srinagar Garhwal from Rishikesh bus stand or Dehradun bus stand. It will take 3 to 4 hours to reach Srinagar from Rishikesh. Take sharable jeeps towards Ghandiyal dhar from Alpine Hotel srinagar or from near Srinagar Petrol pump.
