Yogoda Satsanga Sakha Ashram at Dwarahat was inaugurated in 1983, which serves to disseminate the teachings of our Gurudeva and Founder, Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda in the Indian subcontinent. Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF), a sister organization of YSS, spreads Paramahansaji’s teachings in the rest of the countries across the world.
The mountainous region around Dwarahat is hallowed with the memories of Mahavatar Babaji, the first in the line of the YSS Gurus, who revived the ancient technique of Kriya Yoga in 1861, and made it available to the world through his exalted disciple Sri Sri Lahiri Mahasaya.
YSS has built a small shrine, named ‘Babaji Smriti Bhavan,’ at the place near Dunagiri mountain where Babaji initiated Lahiri Mahasaya into the sacred science of Kriya Yoga. Very close to this shrine is the cave where the first meeting of Lahiri Mahasaya with Babaji took place. The cave is now renovated by YSS. Both the places are deeply revered by all devotees, and are open for meditation for YSS/SRF devotees.
The Ashram premises include a Dhyana Mandir, a small Radha-Krishna temple, Reception, Book Room, Guest rooms (with Kitchen and Dining facilities) for YSS/SRF devotees.
Retreats
The Ashram welcomes all YSS/SRF devotees to participate in individual as well as group retreats conducted by sannyasis. The conducted retreats include periods of silence, practice of Energization Exercises and group meditations every morning and evening, review of the meditation techniques and classes on “How-to-Live” principles as taught by Yoganandaji. The Ashram is open for individual retreats all year round. Please book your stay for both conducted and individual retreats well in advance.
