The two glorifying regiments of Uttarakhand i.e the Kumaon Regiment and the Garhwal Rifles has always brought laurels to the country. To offer homage to the brave soldiers, the Uttarakhand Government has taken the decision of building a War Memorial in the honour of the brave sons of Uttarakhand. This war memorial is a tribute to the martyrs who have sacrificed their life for the service of the nation.
The Architecture of Uttarakhand War Memorial is designed by a local architect of Dehradun. This War Memorial will consist of seven pillars on which the name of more than 1400 martyrs will be carved. The other highlights of this War Memorial are:
Note: Recently the government of Uttarakhand has approved the land for Uttarakhand War Memorial. The construction of this War Memorial will start from 30th of July.
Uttarakhand War Memorial is located in near Dehradun ( Cheer Bagh).
Uttarakhand War Memorial or Shaurya Sthal will be constructed in Cheed Bagh or Cheer Bagh/Chir Bagh Dehradun. 'Cheed' refers to Pine tree in Hindi. This lush green area is surrounded by tall Pine trees offering mesmerising views to the visitors.
