The government of Uttarakhand has obtained the permission to develop the tulip garden over 50 hectares of forest land in Pithoragarh district at a cost of Rs 50 crore. It will be the second Tulip garden in the country after the one located in Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir.

About Tulip Flower: Tulip is basically flower from Holland, blooms from mid March to May and can be grown in hill region.
Site for Tulip Garden: Mad village near Chandak hilltop. Chandak hill top is ideal for the growth of the flower as it is situated at a height of 1950 metres and remains sunny and cold throughout the year. According to the project officer, the possibility of tulip growth in Chandak hill top is brighter than that in Srinagar as the height and climate conditions are more suitable in Chandak hill top.
