Swargarohini Peak in Har ki Dun Trek

The Swargarohini massif consists of four peaks among which Swargarohini I is the main peak. While it is not particularly high according to the Himalayan standards and is not the highest in the Bandarpunch range but is notable for its vivid topography, consisting of two peaks namely the eastern summit and the western summit.

Mythological tale related to Swargarohini Peak

According to Hindu scriptures, the mighty Pandavas traversed through Swargarohini to reach heaven. However, only one Pandava brother i.e. Yudhishthira accompanied by a dog was able to make their ascent to heaven. Many Hindus believe that Swargarohini is the only way by which one can reach heaven in his human form.

Swargarohini Region

Swargarohini Group of Peaks are the crown of G.B.Pant National Park and is surrounded with many high altitude passes, unclimbed peaks and alpine meadows. Swargarohini I is an empyrean peak is perched at an impressive altitude of 6,252 metres and finds its mention in the epic Mahabharata. The ideal time to trek in Swargarohini region is from March to December.


Successful circumambulation (Parikarma) of Swargarohini peak of Uttarakhand for the first time 

A team of 8 mountaineers has created history in Uttarakhand. This team has successfully circumambulated Swargarohini peak for the first time. This peak is located at an altitude of about 20 thousand feet, Which is not easy to conquer.

Eight mountaineers from West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh circumambulated Swargarohini peak. For this Parikarma, the team had to cross two dangerous glacier passes, Dhumdhar Kandi and Jundhar. This 16 Days expedition left under the leadership of team leader Devashish Acharya of West Bengal alongwith Guides from Uttarakhand Prashant Rawat, Vinod Rawat and Sumit Rawat. Location & How to Reach Swargarohini Peak

Swargarohini Peak stands in utmost grandeur in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Badrinath is the nearest town to Swargarohini which is well connected by motorable roads. If you are travelling from Delhi then buses to the nearest cities like Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar are easily available from ISBT, Anand Vihar. Buses and taxis to Badrinath are easily available from the major cities of Uttarakhand. The nearest railhead to Badrinath is Rishikesh railway station and the closest air connectivity is Jolly Grant airport at Dehradun.
