Satopanth Weather Guide

Winter (December to February)

  • Weather: Extremely cold with heavy snowfall, making the region inaccessible due to snow-covered trails. The lake and surrounding areas are frozen, and trekking is impossible during this period. Clear views of the Himalayan peaks and glacial landscapes are common during this period.

Monsoon (July to September)

  • Temperature: 2°C to 12°C
  • Weather: Monsoon season brings occasional rain, especially in July and August. Trails can become slippery and more challenging to navigate, though the overall temperature is still mild compared to the rest of the year.
  • Activities: Trekking is possible, but caution is needed due to potential landslides and wet conditions. September is an ideal time to trek as the monsoon begins to recede, offering clear skies and fewer trekkers.

Autumn (September to November)

  • Temperature: -2°C to 8°C
  • Weather: Cool and dry, with clear skies and crisp air. The monsoon is over, and the weather is ideal for trekking. Nights and early mornings become cold, especially by November, but the days are pleasant for outdoor activities. Autumn is the best time for trekking to Satopanth Lake.
