Sometimes referred to as 'Saritatal', the Sariyatal has a boutique park for the kids to dirt off on a sunny day. Sariyatal is also famous for the Himalayan Botanical Garden, a premier centre for the scientists and botanists that is open for the visitors. Run by the Uttarakhand Forest Department, the Himalayan Botanical Garden situated on the lakeside features a butterfly park, library, herbarium, fermery and an auditorium. By paying a minimal fee of Rs. 20, you can see the Orchidarium, Herbarium, Thunia Alba Orchid, Geodesic Dome, Waterfalls along with several rare and endangered native plant species thriving at the Botanical Garden.
Sariyatal is located at a favourable distance of 2 km from Khurpatal, on the way to Kaladhungi. The travellers can take the Delhi to Nainital bus from ISBT Anand Vihar. Sariyatal is only 8 km away from the Nainital Bus Stand, from where you can hire a taxi to reach the lakeside. Kathgodam railway station at 33 km is the nearest railhead. Pantnagar airport at 67 km away is the closest airport to the lake. Taxis to Sariyatal are easily available from this airport.
