Saraswati River

Saraswati River named after the Goddess of wisdom, Saraswati is a tributary of Alaknanda river that flows in Uttarakhand. The river meets Alaknanda at Keshav Prayag, near Mana village in Chamoli district. After joining the Saraswati River, Alaknanda merges with Ganga at Devprayag, which is known as Bhagirathi until that point.

Saraswati River: A Tributary of river Alaknanda

There is a natural stone bridge called Bhim Pul, erected over the Saraswati River, making a passage towards Vasudhara falls and Satopanth Lake.According to Hindu mythology, this stone bridge was made by the mighty Pandavabrother, who placed a huge rock to join the two massive mountains so his wife,Draupadi could easily cross the rivulet and head towards Swargaloka.

Location & How to Reach Saraswati River

Saraswati River meandering near the Mana village is located about 3 km from Badrinath town. Local transport is available till Mana village from there you need to commence a short trek to reach Saraswati river. 

By Road: Revered by many Hindu devotees, Badrinath Dham can be easily approached from any part of the country. Luxury, as well as normal buses, operates from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi, to cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Srinagar. Buses and taxis can be easily available from the major destinations of Uttarakhand such as Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Pauri, Chamoli etc. to reach Badrinath.

By Rail: Rishikesh railway station is the nearest railhead located about 294 km before Badrinath, on NH58. It is well linked with major cities of India and trains are frequent to Rishikesh city. One can easily catch a bus or hire a taxi from Rishikesh railway station to Badrinath. 

  By Air: The Jolly Grant airport at Dehradun located about 311 km from Badrinath is the closest airport. It is well connected to Delhi with daily flights and taxis to Badrinath are easily available from this airport
