Saptrishi Ashram is an old beautiful ashram located at 5 km from Haridwar on the banks of Ganga (Sapt Sarovar). Established by Goswami Guru Dutt in 1943, Saptrishi Ashram is a well maintained complex with several rooms to stay. A residential hostel and sanskrit school is located within the complex for poor children.
The ashram is located the bank of river Ganga, at a point from where the river splits into seven different streams, also known as sapto sarovars.

Send Enquiry for Tour PackagesAs per mythology, there were Sapt Rishis , seven great sages namely Kashyapa, Vashisht, Atri, Vishwamitra, Jamadagi, Bharadwaja and Gautam. Once Sapt Rishis decided to meditated on the banks of river Ganga. Soon their meditation get disturbed by heavy gushing sound of river flow and they trapped the flow of river Ganga.
Later on Ganga split her flow in seven seperate streams to make lesser noise. Those seven streams of river Ganga known as Sapt Sarovar and place where Sapt Rishi meditated called as Saptrishi Ashram.

Saptrishi Ashram is located in Motichur, at a distance of 5 km from Haridwar. One can reach Saptrishi Ashram by taxi or bus from Haridwar bus stand. Nearest railway station to reach Saptrishi Ashram is Haridwar railway station (7 km) and airport at Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (30 kms).
