Yes, Sankri gets snowfall and turns completely white during January and February Months. Though due to population and frequent travellers the snow does not last more that few days or weeks. But once you hike just 1 km above Sankri, you will get plenty of snow in winter season.

There are no ATMs in Sankri, so don't forget to get your cash in Mussoorie or Dehradun.

The last ATM you will find is at Purola, but do not rely on that, as most of times it is out of cash/service.

Sankri village is a popular tourist destination. It is a trekkers paradise which is situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state.

Sankri village is perched at an altitude of 1950 meters above the sea level in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

Jolly Grant airport is the nearest airport and Dehradun railway station is the nearest railway station for Sankri Village.

Dehradun is situated at a distance of approx 200 kms from Sankri Village.

The cheapest and cost effective way to arrive sankri is by taking bus from Dehradun to sankri and the same on return from sankri to Dehradun. Buses leave both the destinations early morning at 5:30 6:30 and 7:30. 

From Dehradun to sankri can be bought it from the Mussoorie bus stand near Dehradun Railway Station. You need not pre-book these buses. 

Compared to a small vehicle, travelling by bus takes longer time - approximately 10 to 11 hours. One way fare between Dehradun and Sankri is about 300-400 Indian rupees.
