Sankri is a village located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, perched at a height of 1,900 meters. While the village is probably better known as the base camp of various treks such as Kedarkantha and Har-ki Dun, Sankri is a destination in itself.

Sankri is the base camp for quite a few popular trekking trails into the Himalayas such as Kedarkantha, Har-ki-Dun valley, Bali Pass, Borasu Pass, Ruinsara Tal, Rupin Pass, Swargarohini Parikarma Expedition from Sankri. While the Har-ki-Dun trek may be quite challenging for inexperienced folks, one could give Kedarkantha trek a go, since it is relatively less difficult and easily accessible.
