Kangra Fort: Kangra, the ancient Trigarta land, occupied the lower valley of the Beas and its tributaries and was one of the leading hill s;tations of Punjab and Himachal in ancient times. With numerous names claiming ownership of the Fort, it has quite a bit of history on its side. With many years of Mughal ownership and most recently being ruled by an Indian emperor, this location is a must-see for any history buff.
Baijnath Temple: Himachal is a place where nature and human architecture blend perfectly to delight the eye and stimulate the mind. The Baijnath is one such location that easily ranks first on the list of Kangra must-sees.
Brajeshwari Temple: The Brajeshwari Temple is about 10-15 minutes from the parking and is regarded as one of the most touching and spiritually enlightening sites by visitors. The market en route is a shopper's delight.
Kareri Lake: Kareri Lake is a shallow fresh water lake formed by the melting of the Dhauladhar Ranges. It is located a little outside of the main city, so you may need a good guide and transportation available ahead of time.
Indrahar Pass Trek: The trek to Indrahar Pass is relatively easy, being the most scenic trail starting from Mcleodganj, covering Lahesh and Triund Caves, and lasting approximately 14 km one way.
Jwala Devi Temple: Jwala Devi Temple, located in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, is dedicated to Jwala Ji, a Hindu Goddess depicted by a set of eternal flames. One of India's 52 Shakti Peethas, it is believed that Goddess Sati's tongue fell where the Jwala Devi Temple now stands. The five aartis performed at Jwala Devi Temple, a novel temple without an idol, are the main attraction.
Chamunda Devi Temple: The Chamunda Devi Temple, located about 15 kilometres from Kangra Valley, is one of the most visited shrines of the Holy Goddess. The temple houses the shrine of the goddess's raging form, flanked by the male Hindu deities Hanuman and Bhairava.
Masrur: Masrur, known for its Sikharas that resemble Cambodia's Angkor Wat, is about 30 kilometres from Kangra. However, the 1905 earthquake severely damaged these 10th century temples.
Pragpur Village: Pragpur is a heritage village near Kangra that is home to the Judge's Court Manor. The largely unaltered village, complete with small red brick shops and traditional rural houses, is ideal for undisturbed village tourism.
Kangra Art Museum: The Kangra Museum is devoted to the brilliant wonders of Tibetan and Buddhist art, as well as their rich history. Jewelry, rare coin memorabilia, paintings, sculptures, and pottery are among the many precious collectibles available.
Palampur: Palampur, located at a height of 1219 metres between the majestic Dhauladhar Ranges, is well-known throughout the world for its tea plantations and high-quality tea.
Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple: This ancient Shiva temple is located 8 kilometres from Paragpur village. The Lingam, which is located much below ground level, is the temple's main attraction. Beautiful sculptures adorn this temple as well.
Haripur: Haripur is a township in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district. Haripur Guler are twin townships that carry the Guler Riyasat heritage. A river separates the two towns, and because of marshes and irrigated private land, Pong Wetland, a Ramsar Wetland Site, is home to a large number of migratory birds in the winter.
Taragarh Palace: Taragarh, about 2 kilometres south of Tashijong and about 50 kilometres from Kangra, is famous for the Taragarh Palace, which was once the summer palace of the Maharaja of Kashmir and is now a heritage hotel.
Dadasiba: Dadasiba is a picturesque village in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district. Tourists frequently visit the Dadasiba temple in April, May, and June to see the architectural jewel that Raja Ram Singh worked on for 18 years. As an ardent follower of Krishna, Raja Ram Singh devised the idea of building a Radha Krishna temple in his kingdom of Dadasiba to avoid making the annual pilgrimage all the way to Mathura.
Pong Dam: Pong Dam Lake is an earthfill reservoir built on the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra District for hydroelectricity generation and irrigation. The dam, built in 1975, is located in the Shivalik foothills. The region, also known as the Beas Dam, Maharana Pratap Sagar, and Pong Reservoir, is rich in wildlife and a breeding ground for commercially viable fish. Because the reservoir is home to a large number of birds, it has been designated as a Bird Sanctuary.
Chinmaya Tapovan: Chinmaya Tapovan, located at the foot of the Dhauladhar ranges in the Kangra Valley and known as the abode of the Siddhas, is an ashram founded by Swami Chinmayananda that teaches about the Gita. It is situated on the banks of the Bindu Saras River and offers panoramic views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges, a dense pine forest, and small streams. The grounds include a Ram temple, a 9-meter-tall Hanumana image, Satsang halls, a meditation hall, a school, and a health and recreation centre.
Trekking: With the absolutely breathtaking views and sights that Kangra has to offer, some of the more popular treks, such as the Dharamshala-Laka Pass, Baijnath-Parai Jot and Bhim Gasutri Pass, Dharamshala-Talang Pass, McLeodganj-Minikiani Pass-Chamba, are more difficult, but unquestionably more rewarding.
Tashijong: Tashijong is about 5 kilometres west of Baijnath and about 50 kilometres from Kangra town towards Mandi. This small village is well-known for housing a community of Drukpa Kagyud monks and refugees.
Bir & Billing: Bir is a significant centre for spiritual studies and meditation. Bir has a significant Tibetan community settlement, and Tibetan culture has had a significant influence on Bir's culture.
Judge's Court: The Judges' Court is a perfect example of heritage and nature coexisting. The ancestral property of Sir Jai or Kangra, now a heritage site, with huge rooms and sprawling orchards of a variety of fruits blooming in serene youth, makes it difficult to believe that the property is about 300 years old.
Mcleodganj: Mcleodganj, also known as Little Lhasa, is a beautiful town near upper Dharamsala that is famous around the world for being the home of the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.
