More about Parang La Trek

Parang La trek is a strenuous  high altitude trail connecting south eastern Ladakh to Spiti. The strenuous trail for experienced  hikers has all the flavours of Ladakh and Spiti that you may expect. Parang La  has some high mountain arid landscapes, stunning colouration of rock bands, rocky  cliffs, wide valleys to mention with patches of green, here and there.

Parang La trek takes you through the high altitude village  popular for spotting of the highly enigmatic and elusive snow leopard and then  slowly take some steep turns. The tough and demanding phase of the Parang La trek  comes when trekkers move from Thaltak Meadow to Jagtha and from there to  Bomgrojen. It also gives you the opportunity to spend nights on Tso Moriri lake  while hiking its entire length during the day. Parang La Trek is of the most  famous Trans Himalayan treks in India. The endpoint is Karzok village which  houses one of the old & powerful monasteries in Leh.

Best time to visit Parang La trek

July to September is the best time to visit Parang  La trek. In early July you will witness more snow at this place and later  September will become colder. We suggest you to avoid travelling here in  monsoon because the trekking route will get slippery and heavy rainfall occurs  landslides.

Short Itinerary for Parang La Trek

Day 1:- Manali to  Kaza

Arrival at Manali, Start your drive to Kaza. After reaching  Kaza, check-in to the hotel in Kaza. Take some rest in Kaza. Dinner and  overnight stay at hotel in Kaza.

Day 2 and Day 3:- Rest  & Acclimatization Day at Chicham 

This day is for  acclimatization. Ready to Start a small hill walk in the morning. These days  are for physically active which includes a walk along the Spiti river bank  after breakfast & visit to the local Key monasteries & gompa in the  afternoon. After visiting monastery trek to Chicham village through its famous  trolley bridge. Dinner and Overnight stay in a homestay in Chicham.

Day 4 Chicham to  Thaltak

After breakfast, start your trek to Thaltak. After reaching Thaltak,  check-in to the camps and rest for a while and enjoy the beautiful surrounding  of the place. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp in Thaltak.

Day 5:- Thaltak to  Borochin

After breakfast, start your trek to Borochin from Thaltak. After  reaching Borochin, check-in to the camps and rest for a while and enjoy the beautiful  surrounding of the place. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp in Borochin.

Day 6:- Borochin to  Kharsa Yongma via Parag La

After breakfast, start your trek to Parang La. After  reaching Parang La, capture some beautiful images and start your trek to Kharsa  Yongma. After reaching Kharsa Yongma, Check-in to the camps. Dinner and  overnight stay at the camps in Kharsa Yongma.

Day 7:- Kharsa Yongma to Kapapuche

After breakfast, start your trek to Kapapuche from Kharsa  Yongma. After reaching Kapapuche, check-in to the camps and rest for a while  and enjoy the beautiful surrounding of the place. Dinner and overnight stay at  the camp in Kapapuche.

Day 8:- Kapapuche to Kitpodansa

After breakfast, start your trek to Kitpodansa from Kapapuche.  After reaching Kitpodansa, check-in to the camps and enjoy thebeautiful surrounding  of the place. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp in Kitpodansa.

Day 9:- Kitpodansa to  Chumik Shilde

After breakfast, start your trek from Kitpodansa to Chumik  Shilde. After reaching Chumik Shilde, check-in to the camps take some rest and the  natural beauty of the place. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp in Chumik  Shilde.

Day 10:- Chumik  Shilde to Kiangdom

After breakfast, start your trek from Kitpodansa to Chumik  Shilde. After reaching Chumik Shilde, check-in to the camps take some rest and the  natural beauty of the place. The trekking trail takes you to the southernmost  tip of Tso Moriri Lake where one starts getting the glimpse of this pristine  lake. There is no source of water between Chumik Shilde & Kinagdom, the  campsite is known for its wild asses. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp in Kiangdom.

Day 11:- Kiangdom to Karzok 

After breakfast  start your trek to Karzok. This trekking trail is one of the most beautiful  trails with the view of Chamsher Kangri peak and Lungser Kangri peak in the  background. Dinner and overnight stay at Karzok.

Day 12:- Karzok to Leh

After breakfast, travel to Leh from Karzok. Our  services will be finished once you reach Leh.
