Some great updates for Nature Lovers and Adventure Enthusiast who are planning to visit Valley of Flowers or who had already visited the valley via Govindghat-Ghangaria Route. Its time to gear up and explore the new (or we can say OLD) route to Valley of Flowers. The sole objective to open this trek is to provide an alternate routes to reach the valley.
Uttarakhand Forest Department reopened the trek route near Valley of Flowers for public, after a long time of 45 years. This route is also known as The Kunthkhal-Hanuman Chatti trek route, being non-human ingress for 45 years this virgin trail has lots of unexplored nature beauty.
As per TOI, Director of Nanda Devi Biosphere, SS Rasaily told, "The Kunthkhal-Hanuman Chatti trek route was lying closed since 1970 as people began opting for the much easier route from Ghanghariya to approach the valley. Because it was lying unused, the trek trail soon became overgrown with dense vegetation. During the recent disaster, a need was felt for an alternate route which could be used to evict people. This route is suitable for this purpose."
This 15 kms trek starts from Hanuman Chatti (famous for Lord Hanuman Temple) located enroute to Badrinath, almost 10 kms before Badrinath. This trek is stuffed with glaciers, meadows, gorges and rivers and offers much more visual treat than the existing route.
From there, people can trek to Kunthkhal and Ghangharia to get back to civilization. The forest department is also starting to promote other treks near the Valley of Flowers such as those leading to the Chenab Valley, Kagbhusandi Lake, Dronagiri Parvat, etc.
