A stroll around the village will let you see the lifestyle of the people, the beautiful houses and their architecture, a wide variety of birds, and the famous temples of Netwar. There are three temples in Netwar. One is dedicated to Duryodhan, the other to Karna, and the third to Pokhu Devta. All the three temples are located in close vicinity. The Pokhu Devta mandir stands at the confluence of Rupin and Supin rivers. Pokhu Devta is worshipped as the god of law and justice and people in the village are fearful of him. Pokhu Devta is said to be ruthless to people who break the law and order. Hence, the village sees minimal violence, theft, and crimes.
To reach Netwad from Dehradun, you follow the route to Mori and Sankri. Netwar is the mid-check point of both these hubs of adventure and natural abundance. You can trek from Sankri to Netwar too as the route towards Netwar is scenic and full of wonderful surprises. You can also reach Netwar via Purola. Purola is just 50kms from Netwar and transport from Dehradun to Purola is easily available.
Pokhu Temple is the guard of Shailaj Maharaj who was the saarthi of Karna during the epic war of Mahabharata. There is another temple dedicated to Karna at Gaichwan Village near Netwar. Kedarkantha peak is accessible through Gaichwan Village as well, though it is a fairly longer route to complete.
Netwar is located in Govind Ballabh Pant National Park ( Entry Gate & Checking Point of Govind Ballabh Pant National Park).
To reach Netwar from Dehradun, you have to take a transport till Sankri. Netwar is about 180 kms from Dehradun if you travel via Mussoorie, Purola and Mori. Netwar is 11kms before Sankri village.
