The trek route to Mukta Top is as follows: Kuflon – Shiladhuni – Chaithathari – Kuari – Mukta Tal – Mukta Top – Kuari – Kuflon
Day 1: Kuflon Village – Shiladhuni
Total distance: 4 km/4 hrs (Highest altitude: 2,070 mts)
The entire trail from Kuflon Village to Shiladhuni goes through dense oak, rhododendron, and maple forests. You will also come across beautiful birds and captivating streams. As you reach Shiladhuni, the forest clears out and gives way to an open area. You will camp at Shiladhuni amidst the soft chirping of birds and gentle melody of the streams.
Day 2: Shiladhuni – Chaithathar
Total distance: 5 km/5hrs (Highest altitude: 2,926 mts)
The ascent from Shiladhuni to Chaithathar is difficult and steep as compared to the previous day. You will trek through dense forests and cross a stream. After completing half of the journey, you will reach Kuari. You will ascend through rocky paths and trek across beautiful bamboo forests. The campsite at Chaithathar is present at a small clearing with stunning views.
Day 3: Chaithathar –Mukta Tal
Total distance:4 km/4 hrs (Highest altitude: 3,292 mts)
Mukta Tal is a high-altitude pond set at an elevation of 3,292 m. The trek route from Chaithathar to Mukta Tal goes through forests and you will see the snow-clad peaks of Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, and Nag Tibba as you ascend. After trekking through meadows which are covered in snow during winters and blooming during summers, you will reach Mukta Tal. You will camp alongside the lake and take in the mesmerizing views of the area.
Day 4: Mukta Tal – Mukta Top – Kuari
Total distance: 9 km/6-7 hrs (Highest altitude:3,608 mts)
The ascent from Mukta Tal to Mukta Top takes you through beautiful meadows with the majestic views of the snow-clad mountain peaks accompanying you. You will come across the beautiful Siyari Tal.
Once you reach Mukta Top summit, you will be able to see the magnificent Gangotri peaks along with the mountain peaks of Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, Nag Tibba, and Joanli.
After exploring the area, you will start with your descent to Kuari and camp there.
Day 5: Kuari – Kuflon
Total distance: 6 km/4 hrs
The descent from Kuari to Kuflon comprises of dense forests, beautiful Himalayan birds, and captivating landscape to gaze at.
Day 6: Return journey
Today, you will commence your return journey from Kuflon Village.
