The Tourism Department of Uttarakhand has launched a special pilgrimage package, “Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil”, allowing devotees to experience the spiritual presence of Mount Kailash from within India. This initiative provides a rare opportunity to witness the holy mountain, along with the revered peaks of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, from Old Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand.
Mount Kailash is one of the five abodes of Lord Shiva, with three located in Himachal Pradesh (Kinnaur Kailash, Mani Mahesh, and Shrikhand Mahadev), Adi Kailash in Uttarakhand, and Mount Kailash itself in Tibet. Known as Mahadeva’s divine residence, the mountain holds great significance, and this package offers a way to pay homage to the deity from India.
The viewpoint at Old Lipulekh Peak was recently discovered by a team from Uttarakhand Tourism, BRO, and ITBP and provides a crystal-clear view of Mount Kailash from Indian soil. The Tourism Department has collaborated with these agencies to establish a package covering Mount Kailash, Adi Kailash, and Om Parvat, allowing devotees to have a sacred experience without crossing international borders.
This exclusive KMVN tour package includes helicopter tickets from Pithoragarh to Gunji, where visitors will stay in comfortable KMVN accommodations or homestays. Pilgrims can now enjoy a seamless journey with no long road travel, reaching the stunning vantage points for a darshan of Mount Kailash and nearby sacred sites.
On Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2024, the first group of pilgrims embarked on this momentous journey, witnessing the majestic Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh Peak on October 3. This tour also included a visit to Om Parvat, adding to the spiritual experience. This initiative fulfills the longstanding wish of many devotees who seek an alternative to the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
