More Information about Moon Peak Trek

Moon Peak is situated at an altitude of 4610 m above sea level lie in the Dhauladhar range of the western Himalayas. This trekking trail takes you through one of the oldest cafes (Magic Cafe) on the way to Triund. The view from the Magic Cafe is magical, and you will love to sit there for some time and breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding.

Moon Peak trek is a 45 km long trek that starts from Mcleodganj in Dharamshala and passes through the popular camping ground of Triund, the Laka Got, Lahesh Caves, and Indrahaar Pass. During the day, it might be warm due to the high temperatures, but you need to be prepared for the severely chilly nights.

The temperature in Summers: 20°C to 25 °C days and falls to 5°C to 7 °C at night

The temperature in Winters: 10°C to 15 °C days and nearly 0 to -7 °C at night

Best time to visit Moon Peak Trek

May, June, September, and October is the best time to visit Moon Peak trekking expedition because the weather remains pleasant this time and you can easily do this adventurous trek in Himachal. We suggest you to avoid travelling here during the monsoon because the trekking route get slippery and the place has several landslides and roadblocks.

Short Itinerary for Moon Peak Trek

Day 1: McLeodganj to Triund

Arrival at McLeodganj, start your trek to Triund. You will reach Triund by afternoon. Check-in to the camps and take some rest. Explore the nearby area, dinner and overnight stay at Triund.

Day 2:- Triund to Lahesh Cave

After breakfast, start your trek to Lahesh Cave. After a short ascent from Triund you will Laka Got. From Laka Got it is a sleep ascent for 2 km. Over rocky ridge to reach Lahesh cave. Night stay in the cave of camp at Laka Got.

Day 3: Lahesh Cave to Chatta

After breakfast, start your trek to Chatta. It takes about three hours to the pass. From the pass entire Pir Panjal range of central Himalayas is a sight to behold. Night Stay in Chatta behind Indrahaar pass.

Day 4: Chatta to Moon Peak

After breakfast, start your trek to reach Moon Peak. It will take up to 4 hours to reach Moon Peak. From the Peak we can see entire Pir Panjal range of central Himalayas is a sight to behold and later get back to Laka Got or Lahesh Cave from another side. Overnight Camp in Laka Got or Lahesh Cave.

Day 5: Laka Got / Lahesh Cave - Mcleod Ganj Trek

After breakfast, start your trek back to McLeodganj. Follow the same route on the way back or a different one from Triund going over a grassy meadow and descend down to Bhagsu Nag and then to Mcleodganj. Our services will be finished at McLeodganj.
