Maneshwar Temple in Champawat

Maneshwar Temple is the oldest religious temple in Champawat city in Uttarakhand. It is built by King Nirbhay Chand who is the king of the Chand Dynasty. The king also constructed the site of “Akhand Dhuna” and simultaneously built a “Pucca Bawdy” to gather the water of the secret ‘Naule’ near the temple. 

Maneshwar Temple is also worshiped as Shaktipeeth and the penance site of the God Karma. In the temple, thousands of people visit the Ekadashi fair every year to worship. Kranteshwar Mountain is located near the Maneshwar Temple.

Mythology about Maneshwar Temple

Many people believe that by bathing by the water of the secret Naule located near the Maneshwar Temple, many diseases and disorders are removed along with holy benefit, and devotees attain liberation. They also believe that Devotees receive spiritual peace by coming to the temple of Maneshwar. And by worshiping Shivling, the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled.

Best Time to visit Maneshwar Temple

Maneshwar Temple can be visited throughout the year. But the best time to visit this temple is from October to May. In winters the weather is so cold here and the area witnesses snowfall. Avoid traveling here in monsoon because of heavy rainfall landslides may occur.
