Mandal River originates within the eastern heights of Talla Salan in Chamoli district and is an important tributary of Ramganga River. An important breeding place of Mahaseer fish, Mandal River cascades down the mountainous region of Uttarakhand for 32 kilometers before joining Ramganga.

Angling is a popular recreational activity that allows tourists to catch fishes on the banks of Mandal River. Apart from wildlife photography and walking amidst the forest, tourists can also enjoy catching Mahaseer fishes which are also known as the Water Tiger.
