Lakhanpur Temple

Lakhanpur Temple is a revered Hindu temple that was built by the Katyuri Kings during their reign around 800 to 1100 AD. The ancient temple is situated on Jaurasi-Chaukhutia road about 25 km from Dwarahat in Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is believed that the Katyuri king used to watch over his kingdom from Lakhanpur.

Each year between October-November, a small fair is held in the premises of Lakhanpur temple. Many devotees and pilgrims visit the temple to attend the fair with great devotion and rigor.

A cave opening from five sides has been discovered in Lakhanpur.  It is a good tourist place offering peaceful environment with beautiful views of Ramnganga River and Chaukutia Valley.
