Kheerganga is a paradise for nature lovers, the beauty of this place attracts many trekkers throughout the year. Kheerganga is famous for having a hot water spring and a scenic view of the valley. Staying in Kheerganga Trek

Kheerganga is now a most popular trekking destination in Himachal fro young adventurers. You can stay at the camps, huts etc. There are some huts available that offers you accommodation facilities in Kheerganga.

Kheerganga does not has any hotels, it only has simple places like huts and camps to stay. Some tented accommodation may also be available on the green meadows that is a short distance away from the other cafes.

You can pitch your own tent by paying a small fee in Kheerganga. Some trekkers will be staying in the common rooms at Ashrams which is maintained by the Monks and Sadhus.

Kheerganga Trek Food Guide

Kheerganga has some places to eat there are some cafes and restaurant that offers food to the trekkers. But food is quite expensive in Kheerganga so we suggest you carry packed food like bread, chips, chocolate, etc that gives you the energy to do the trek easily and in Kheerganga there are some ashrams and camps offers the food to the trekkers. 

History of Kheerganga Trek

Kheerganga’s history is said to be thousands of years old when it was the adobe of Hindu Lord Shiva. Local peoples say Lord Shiva came to Kheerganga or some local people say that his Son Kartik came to Kheerganga and is said that he was meditated here for thousands of years. 

The name Kheerganga means “Milky White Sacred Water”. The water of this natural spring is hot and white like milk and a dip in this hot spring is considered a sacred bath. There is a temple situated close to the spring which is believed to be ancient too.

Trekking routes to Kheerganga

The trekking distance to Kheerganga from Barshaini is around 9-10 km by any of the routes. There are three routes from Barshaini to go to Kheerganga.

Route No. 1:- Barshaini to Kheerganga via Nakthan Village

Start your trek from Barshaini cross the bridge after Barshaini and take the left turn after the bridge on the route of Nakthan village and Kheerganga. This trekking route to reach Kheerganga is the shortest and most preferred route that takes 3-4 hours to reach Kheerganga. This route is on the left side of the Parvati river. The trail through Nakthan is the most popular trekking route to Kheerganga and the trail is well marked.

Route No. 2:- Barshaini to Kheerganga via Kalga Village

Start your trek from Barshaini cross the bridge after Barshaini and take the right turn to hike up and reach Kalga village. After reaching Kalga village there is a different trek route to go to Kheerganga, that will join the main route halfway on the trek. This trekking route passes through dense forests and many people lose their way on this trekking route to Kheerganga. Very few trekkers used this trekking route to reach Kheerganga because most people do not aware of this route.

Route No. 3:- Barshaini to Kheerganga via Tosh Village

You can also reach Kheerganga from Barshaini via Tosh Village. This is a different trekking path for Kheerganga from Tosh village. Tosh nallah or Tosh river flows by near Tosh village which joins Parvati river near Pulga. This trekking route to Kheerganga joins another route of Kheerganga which we mention above near the village of Nakthan. This route is mostly used by those tourists who stay in Tosh for the night and want to trek the next morning.

Short Itinerary of Kheerganga Trek

Day1:- Barshaini to Kheerganga 12 km 5-6 hr

The Kheerganga trek will start from Barshaini, You have to trek 12 km from Barshaini to reach Kheerganga.

After reaching Kheerganga, check-in to your camp and rest at your camps for a while, and then enjoy the Parvati Kund which has hot water it.

Dinner and overnight stay at camps in Kheerganga.

Day 2:- Kheerganga to Barshaini

After breakfast, trek back to Barshaini from Kheerganga. Our services will be ended at Barshaini.
