Although the opening month of Kedarnath i.e May and June are also good to travel but at this time Kedarnath receives very high number of pilgrims from all around the world which makes it very hard to do darshan without avoiding long queues. For instant Darshan & to get budget hotels easily and to avoid the instant weather change, choose September & October month to visit Kedarnath temple.

In the monsoon season of July and August, Kedarnath receives frequent rainfall which makes trek route slippery, it could be dangerous for old age pilgrims.

Kedarnath Seasons

Kedarnath in Summers (May to June): The weather is cool and pleasant during summer months. Summers are the ideal time for all sightseeing, temple visit and also for adventure activities. The average temperature is around 17°C.

Kedarnath in Monsoons (July, August): There are occasional rains and the temperature drops till 12°C. Occasional Landslides are common during this time but it is accessible and many trekkers, pilgrims visit Kedarnath during monsoons as well.

Kedarnath in Autumn (September, October): The weather become pleasant and surroundings become scenic after monsoons. One of the best time to visit.

Kedarnath in Winters: (November to April): In winters Kedarnath Region sees heavy snowfall, causing the locals to leave town and the temple stays closed for six months. The temperatures go below sub-zero levels with heavy snowfall.
