The construction of the Kedar Gatha Museum building is nearing completion as part of the second phase of reconstruction. The museum will house a collection of artifacts, literature, and resources related to the rich history of Kedarnath. Additionally, it will offer visitors a glimpse of Kedarpuri before the disaster, its aftermath, and the ongoing transformation under the master plan.
Under the expert guidance of the Indian Museum Institute and the supervision of consultants from the Kedarnath Master Plan, this grand museum will preserve ancient and rare artifacts and literature related to Kedarnath. The museum will feature exhibits on topics such as Adi Guru Shankaracharya, the divine form of Lord Ashutosh at Kedarnath, the glory and history of the Kedarnath pilgrimage, and the connection between the Pandavas and the Panch Kedar, including Kedarnath. It will also house a collection of significant items like copper and stone plates, inscriptions, utensils, sacred objects, Dev Nishash, and ancient idols, all of which reflect the deep cultural and spiritual heritage of the Kedarnath temple.
The museum will also house copies of the four Vedas, Puranas, Shiva Mahapuran, and various other religious texts. In addition, it will feature photographs of Kedarnath before the June 2013 disaster, images capturing the devastation caused by the disaster, and the ongoing restoration efforts under the master plan. Visitors will also get a glimpse of the envisioned future of Kedarnath, showcasing its divine and majestic transformation.
