Ichari Dam

The Ichari Dam is a concrete gravity dam built on Tons River, about 13 km north of Dakpathar in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. The Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (UJVN) is the owner of this dam. 

This dam is 59 m (194 ft) tall, 155 m (509 ft) long and has a volume of 181,000 m3. The surface area of the reservoir is 8 km2 (3 sq mi).

Ichari Dam in Dehradun

Ichari dam is a run-of-the- river type dam, which was built with a purpose of generating hydroelectric power. The dam was completed in the year 1972. The Ichari Dam diverts water to the Chibro Power Station (240 MW) which is then returned to the Tons River, before draining the water to the Khodri Power Station (120 MW). 

The nearest city from this dam is Chakrata in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.
