The Valley of Flowers lies in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is situated at an elevation of 3,658 metres above sea level in the upper expanses of Bhyundar Ganga, near Joshimath. The lower reaches of Bhyundar Ganga, near Govindghat is known as Bhyundar Valley.
Govindghat is situated on the banks of Alaknanda River at an elevation of 1828 mts where you can stay overnight if you are reaching in the evening, you will find plenty of budget and deluxe hotels in Govindghat. From Govindghat there is a new road of aourn 4 kms which leads to Pulna Village, from here the trek is just 14 kms to reach Valley of Flowers. Ghangaria (which is the basecamp) is just 10 kms from Pulna.

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport to Valley of Flowers but the roads are only connected upto Govind Ghat from where you have to commence trek of 16kms to reach Valley of Flowers. It is situated at a distance of 292kms from Jolly Grant Airport and is well connected to Delhi with daily flights. Govindghat is well connected by motorable roads with Jolly Grant Airport. Taxis are easily available from Jolly Grant Airport to Govindghat.
Helicopter Services for Valley of Flower: If you are planning to cover Hemkund Sahib with valley of flowers, then definitely take the helicopter service. As compared to many other treks, Valley of Flowers do offer you option between trekking or using helicopter. There is a helicopter service from Govind Ghat to Ghangaria. Helicopter will drop you at helipad ground at Ghangaria. However, from Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers you need to trek only- no other option! So manage your luggage accordingly, however you may get a porter from Helipad ground to Ghangaria.
Note: If the weather is bad, the helicopter service is not operational.
By Train: The nearest railway station to Valley of flowers is Rishikesh but the roads are only connected upto Govind Ghat from where you have to commence trek of 16 kms to reach Valley of Flowers. Rishikesh railway station is situated 273 kms before Govindghat on NH58. Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India. Trains to Rishikesh are frequent. Govindghat is well connected by motorable roads with Rishikesh. Taxis and buses are available from Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Joshimath and many other destinations to Govindghat.
By Road: Valley of Flowers is connected upto Pulna village (4 kms from Govindghat) with motorable roads and from here you have to commence trek of 13 kms to reach Valley of Flowers. Govindghat is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand state. Buses to Haridwar, Rishikesh and Srinagar are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Buses and Taxis to Govindghat are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state like Rishikesh, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Ukhimath, Srinagar, Chamoli etc. Govindghat is situated on National Highway 58 making it easy to reach.
