Location of Auli

Auli lies on the way to Badrinath, by taking a detour just before Joshimath and is surrounded by the dense coniferous forests. It is located about 290 km from Dehradun and around 252 km from Rishikesh. In the depths of this hill station, you can see a small Hindu temple which bears a connection with the epic Ramayana.  

How to reach Auli

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to Auli situated at a distance of 286kms. Jolly Grant Airport is well connected to Delhi with daily flights. Auli is well connected by motorable roads with Jolly Grant Airport. Taxis are available from Jolly Grant Airport to Auli.

By Rail: The nearest railway station to Auli is Rishikesh. Rishikesh railway station is situated 264kms before Auli on NH58. Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India and trains to Rishikesh are frequent. Auli is well connected by motorable roads with Rishikesh as taxis and buses are available from Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Joshimath and many other destinations to Auli.

By Road: Auli is well connected by motorable roads with major destinations of Uttarakhand state. Buses to Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Srinagar are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Buses and Taxis to Auli are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state like Rishikesh, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Ukhimath, Srinagar, Chamoli, etc. Auli is situated only 14kms from Joshimath which lies on NH58.

Note: In winters (from December end till mid-March) the road from Joshimath to Auli is not operational due to heavy snowfall. A Cable car is the only mode of transportation from Joshimath to Auli. The last trip of the cable car to the Auli leaves Joshimath at 4:20 pm during winters and 5:30 pm during summers. Tourists must reach Joshimath before the last trip of a cable car. Tourists reaching late may have to stay in Joshimath. Guests visiting Clifftop Club have to alight at tower number eight of the cable car.

Tower number eight is a high tower and the elderly may find it difficult to use the stairs and walk down to the resort in snow. Visitors are also kindly advised to be careful with small children while getting down or climbing up the tower.

The road to Club is a difficult hill track. Guests who drive up to Joshimath can also leave their vehicles in the parking area at the Ropeway Park at Joshimath and travel to Auli by ropeway to tower number eight with their luggage. The ropeway is Asia's longest and second highest ropeway, the charges of the to and fro trip are Rs. 500 only).

The other alternative is to travel by road from Joshimath to Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam's Tourist Reception Center at Auli (14 km). The exciting and fun-filled chair lift ride from there to Clifftop Club costs Rs. 100/= per person for a round trip. Members can hire a Jeep/Sumo from Joshimath to reach Clifftop Club which roughly costs Rs. 800 (eight hundred only).
