Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, today, March 6, 2025. His itinerary includes performing pooja and darshan at the winter seat of Maa Ganga in Mukhwa and flagging off a trek and bike rally, followed by addressing a public gathering in Harsil. These initiatives aim to promote religious tourism and boost the local economy in Uttarakhand. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the world's second-highest trek routes in the Jadung and Neelapani valleys, enhancing adventure tourism in the region.
PM Modi's scheduled visit to Mukhba Village near Harsil on 27 Feb 2025 has been postponed considering the bad weather conditions. The weather department has forecasted rain and snowfall between 26-28 Feb 2025 in the area.
The visit may be rescheduled in the month of March.
From Kedarnath to Auli, Dhanaulti to Mussoorie, the second snowfall of the season has occurred. Light snowfall started in the high altitude areas of the state from Sunday evening and its still snowing at some places. The second snowfall of the season occurred on Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Harshil, Chopta, Tungnath, Suki Top, Auli and Mussoorie and other peaks.

Season's first snowfall was recorded in Harsil on Sunday, 08 Dec 2024. Most of the high altitude regions of Uttarakhand including Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath also received snowfall.
Around 6 inch snowfall recorded in Harsil on 02 Mar 2024. There has been snowfall in Harsil along with Char Dham in Uttarakhand and other high altitude. Though the Badrinath temple is closed for winters, the opening date of Badrinath has been announced.
Snowfall was reported on Monday in regions such as Kedarnath Dham, including Madmaheshwar, Tungnath, Chandrashila, etc. Additionally, light snowfall was observed in tourist spots like Chopta, Dugalbitta and in Deoriatal.
The phenomenon extended to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, Harshil Valley, and other high-altitude areas of Uttarkashi. Despite the snowfall, road movements remained unaffected at present.
