Hamirpur

Hamirpur, located about 100  kilometers southeast of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, was named after King Hamir Chand, the ruler of the Katoch dynasty. There is another location in  town. Chaura Devi Temple, Singh Maheshwari Temple, Nirankari Ashram, and  Kalpavriksha are all worth a visit.

History of Hamirpur

Hamirpur was a part of Kangra district until 1972, so the history of Hamirpur is inextricably linked to the history of Kangra. The entire region was known as Trigarta during the Puranic era. The Trigarta kings are known to have taken part in the Kurukshetra war against the Pandavas.

It is also said that while the Pandavas were living in disguise in the kingdom of Virata, the Trigarta kings accompanied Duryondhana on his expedition against Virata. However, it is unknown whether or not the kings who fought against the Pandavas belonged to the Katoch dynasty.
