Once a home of famous hunter-conservationist Jim Corbett, Gurney House was built in 1881 by Mary Jane, mother of Jim Corbett. Later in 1947, Gurney House was sold to Mrs Kalavati Varma, wife of Barrister Sharda Prasad Varma.
Still a private home in Nainital, Gurney House has all its character and historical legacy as same as in earlier times. One can see Corbett's possessions in the Gurney House such as his trophies, African drum, boat, fishing rod, books, and furniture. Now developed as treasure trove of Corbett memorabilia by the Varma-Dalmia family. Corbett lovers are welcome in Gurney House by appointments to visit this heritage property.
