Drona Sagar Lake

Drona Sagar Lake is nestled in the quaint town of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. The pristine lake is associated with Guru Dronacharya, the royal guru of the Kauravas and Pandavas of the epic Mahabharatha. According to a famous legend, the Pandavas created the Drona Sagar Lake for their Guru Dronacharya as Guru Dakshina, which literally suggests paying back the dues of the teacher through a wise gift. As cited in the Puranas (holy text), the water of Drona Sagar is as divine as the water of river Ganga. The pristine pond is blossomed with Lotus flowers and is surrounded by various temples. At present, the Archaeological Survey of India protects this place.
