Dhauliganga Dam

The Dhauliganga Dam is a concrete face and earth-fill embankment dam. It is  built on Dhauliganga River near Dharchula in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. 

This dam was constructed and operated by a joint venture of Kajima Construction Corporation, Ltd, HCC and Daewoo Engineering & Engineering & Construction with Bauer Maschinen. This dam generates 280 MW of hydro-power. The construction work of this dam began in February 2000 and was completed by 2005.

Dhauliganga Dam in Dharchula

The Dhauliganga dam has a height of 56 metres (184 ft), length 315 metres (1,033 ft) and thickness 1 metre respectively. The surface area of this dam is 8 km square and max water depth is 70 m (230 ft). The basin area of this dam is Ganga River. The Dhauliganga dam is used for storing water and generating hydroelectric power.
