Devariya Tal Lake

Deoria Tal also spelled as ‘Devaria’ or ‘Deoriya’ is a pristine lake located about 3 km atop a hill from the villages of Mastura and Sari, on Ukhimath–Chopta road in Uttarakhand. The lake is situated at an altitude of 2,438 metres in Rudraprayagdistrict of Uttarakhand state.

Deoria Tal is surrounded by verdant forests and offers refreshing views of snow-clad peaks at the backdrop. One can see the reflection of the majestic Chaukhamba on the crystal clear waters of the lake which is an awe-inspiring sight indeed.

Deoria Tal offers a clear 300-degree view of the majestic peaks of the Chaukhamba,Nikantha, Bandarpoonch, Kedar Range and Kalanag. One can visit this lake throughout the year as the weather is always pleasant.

A legend associated with Deoria Tal

According to the Hindus mythology, it is believed that devas or gods used to bath in this majestic lake. This lake is also believed to be the “Indra Sarovar” as written in the Puranas. It is also believed that this lake was the place where the Pandavas brothers asked the queries from Yaksha.

Location & How to Reach Devariya Tal Lake

One can easily approach the lake as Uttarakhand is well connected by motorable roads from major cities of India. Deoria Tal is situated at a distance of 420 km from the capital Delhi. The nearest rail head is Rishikesh railway station. From Rishikesh Chopta region where Deoriyatal is situated is about 225 km by road.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun. Deoria Tal is located at a trekking distance of 2 km from the quaint Sari Village. This village is located at a distance of 13 km ahead of Ukhimath.
