Devalsari is a hidden paradise of umpteen variety of colorful butterflies in the Aglar Valley of Tehri Garhwal. Some varieties of butterflies found here are - azure sapphire, siren, common copper, painted lady, marbled flat, grand duchess and common peacock.

This trek is surrounded by Oak and Deodar forests bustling with birds and provides an opportunity to see the unique Garhwali village and their culture.

Latest happenings in the la-la land of butterflies

A nature and bird-watching camp was organised by Titli Trust, an NGO supported by the Mussoorie forest division and the ecotourism wing of Uttarakhand forest department. The 32 participants were bewildered by the variety of bird and butterfly life at Devalsari. They counted 60 species of birds and 70 species of butterflies. On just one three-hour walk, participants counted 60 butterfly species. There were over 1,000 butterflies spotted.
