Best Time to visit Dev Kyara Trek

The best time to visit Dev Kyara Bugyal is from the March to June and then after monsoons in the months of September and October. It is advisable to avoid the months of July and August as heavy rainfall is expected during these months. If you a pro-trekker and want to make this trek slightly more difficult then you can plan during winters, when the region is covered with snow.

Itinerary of the Dev Kyara Bugyal Trek

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri
Distance: 210 km (7/8hrs)
Travel from Dehradun to the village of Sankri. You can reach Dehradun according to your own convenience. The ride from Dehradun to Sankri is a very divine one, so make sure you're wide awake.

Day 2: Sankri to Jakhol to Obra Temple
Distance: 19 km (by taxi), 6 km (4/5hrs) 2500mt
Travel to Jakhol from Sankri by taxi. Then from the Jakhol Village trek to Dhara Village passing by mountains and small fields. Reach at Bancha Thatch (2,200 mt). It is the last village temple with its exquisite architecture. Move a kilometer ahead towards Obra, stay overnight at Obra.

Day 3: Obra to Bhawa (3500 mt)
Distance- 8 km, 5/6 hrs
Trek from Obra to Bhawa a 6km trek. Bhawa is at a high altitude and it divides the Obra Valley offering enormous views in all the directions. Towards the North is the Fhitari Village and the right side is the Dev Kyara Bugyal.

Day 4: Bhawa to Dev Kyara (Khimloga)
Distance: 5 km, 4/5 hrs
This day demands a walk along the grass slopes throughout the day. Reach up to Daowdu (55,00 mt), Ranglana Pick (6100 mt). Camp at the beautiful meadows of Dev Kyara on this day.

Day 5: Dev Kyara to Obra (3500 mt)
Distance: 13 km, 8 hrs
Start trekking from Dev Kyara to Obra. Start early morning as it is a long journey.

Day 6: Obra to Bancha to Jakhol to Sankri
Distance: 6 km (by trek, 4/5 hrs), 19 km (by taxi, 2 hrs)
Travel back to Jakhol by following the same trail towards Jakhol via Dhara. Visiting the Someshwar Temple to the right of the Supin river. Pass via Dhara Village and camp overnight at Sankri or stay in a hotel.

Day 7-Sankari to Dehradun
Distance-210 km
You will be heading back to Dehradun from Sankri, the very last journey in the Upper Himalayas and after you reach Dehradun your trekking expedition to the Dev Kyara Bugyal will come to a happy end.
