One the lap of mountains, Danda Nagraja temple is visible from far away places and many pilgrims from across the country visit this holy place every year. As per the legends, Lord Krishna came here for the first time in the snake form. he crawled all way up the ridge to reach at top of hill, where temple is now standing.
Priests and locals still beliefs about Lord Krishna presence in the temple and if prays sincerely, it fulfils all wishes of devotees. On 13-14 April of every year, a big fair is organised at Danda Nagraja temple known as 'Danda Nagraja Fair' which is attended by a large crowds of devotees.
According to the custom, devotees offers Jaggery (gur) as prasad before the deity of the temple and take a round (parikrama) of the temple after the darshan. There are some restaurants and shops offers refreshment and prasad outside the premises of the temple.
Danda Nagraja Temple is located at 34 km from Pauri city and 49 km from Devprayag. One can reach here by hiring taxi or by bus from Pauri but from Devprayag only by taxi on hire is available. Nearest railway station is at Kotdwara railway station (100 kms) and airport at Jolly Grant airport (131 kms).
