A three-day survey to count aquatic animals, including crocodiles, gharials, and otters, has commenced in the Kalagarh region of Corbett Tiger Reserve.
On the first day, Monday, officials carried out the census in the Afzalgarh Barrage and Saddle Dam area under the Kalagarh Range, following directives from senior Corbett Tiger Reserve authorities.
Corbett National Park in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, along with other tourist spots, will be closed to visitors during Holi. The park administration has announced a two-day closure on March 13 and 14. During this period, Corbett Jungle Safari and night stay services will be unavailable, requiring tourists to adjust their travel plans accordingly.

In a significant move for tiger conservation in Uttarakhand, preparations are complete to transfer the fifth tiger from Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) to Rajaji National Park in Dehradun. Previously, four tigers (two males and two females) were successfully relocated and have adapted well to their new habitat.
The Forest Department launched the Tiger Reintroduction Project in 2020, aiming to strengthen the tiger population in Rajaji while maintaining ecological balance. Officials confirm that the relocated tigers are thriving and breeding naturally, further supporting conservation efforts in the region.

Tourists from various parts of India come to celebrate Christmas and New Year in Jim Corbett National Park. All zones of Corbett Park are packed before Christmas and New Year, day safari and night stay guest house are full till 5 January. The Corbett hotels and resorts are also packed almost 70 percent from 25 December to 1 January.
In Uttarakhand, the new safari routes - Mohan range (Almora) & Kaladhungi heritage zone (Ramnagar) in Kumaon division- were opened by the forest department recently. Tourists can go for safari in both the new tourism zone.
