Chopta is a must-visit during winters when the whole region is covered with snow blanket. Fewer people travel during this time which makes Chopta more pristine. Trek through deep snow-covered tracks along with occasional snowfall makes it a dreamy experience. Most of the winters, days are clear and sunny, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas and snow-covered valley.
During winters, it is recommended to trek early in the morning for Tungnath and Chandrashila. It is preferred to start as early as possible if one wants to reach Tungnath temple and further, in time. You can also have the chance to see Monal birds (state bird of Uttarakhand).
Tips: It is preferred to stay in a proper hotel as most of the camps are either closed or sometimes inaccessible by road due to heavy snowfall. Though some camps are open, it is recommended to book in advance.
