Chirbasa in Gangotri National Park

Trek route of Chirbasa

Chirbasa is a well known campsite of Gaumukh Tapovan Trek. The trek to Chirbasa starts from Gangotri and takes about 3-4 hours to complete. This exhilarating 9 km trek is an easy gradient and can be completed in a day or two, depending upon your stay. Before setting your foot on the Chirabasa trail from Gangotri at 3,415 metres, you can take the blessings of the revered Ganga shrine located about half a kilometre upstream. Follow the swift trail which remains the same for further 2 km, where you need to show the permit.

Keep up your pace and you’ll notice the forest thinning rapidly as you move closer to a rugged landscape, relieved by an eternal brook flowing below and the cluster of dusty mountains in the front. As you move further the long-leaf Indian pine trees will open up to the view of exotic Chirbasa camping site. It is one of the best camping sites where you can see lush vegetation. You can pitch your tents here, crash into your sleeping beds or roll under the cluster of stars and talk with the gentle winds.
