The area was opened for tourists in the year 1994 and since then it has become a popular Trekking area known as the Charang Ghati Pass. Charang Valley Trek will take you to a trekking expedition to the revered Kinnaur Kailash Mountain.
Charang Valley Trek is one of the most difficult treks in Himachal Pradesh. The trek is 60 km long. Thangi is the starting point of Charang Ghati trek and it goes from Charang, Lalan Ti, crosses Charang La Pass and concludes at Chitkul Village. The Chitkul Village is the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border in the Baspa Valley of Kinnaur, Himachal.
The best time to visit Charang Ghati trek is between September and October. The trek can be done between the periods of mid-June to October. We suggest you to avoid traveling in the monsoon because the region faces heavy rainfall resulting in landslides, avalanches, and cloud bursts.
Day 1: Chail to Kalpa
After arrival at Chail, drive through the dense forest to reach Kalpa via Kufri, Narkanda and Rampura. It also offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the 6000 m high Kinner Kailash range. Dinner and overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 2: Kalpa to Lambar
After breakfast, drive away to Thangi which is situated at an elevation of 2966 m above sea level. From Thangi the Charang Ghati trek begins. Start your Trek to Lambar, which is situated almost 2896 m above sea level in the North-East direction ascending the height following the stream. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 3: Lambar to Charang
After breakfast, start your trek to the main attraction of this trek that is Charang where we reach after 4 hours of trekking. Camp near the stream. Dinner and overnight in Charang.
Day 4: Charang to Lalanti
After breakfast, start your trek uphill in the Charang Valley to Lalanti and cover 8 kms that takes around 6 hours. Lalanti has beautiful meadows with thousands of high altitude flowers. Camp next to stream in Lalanti. Dinner and overnight stay at Lalanti.
Day 5: Lalanti to Chitkul
After breakfast, start trek descend to reach Chenab river and then ascend to reach Bindrabani. You will witness beautiful views of many virgin peaks, hanging glaciers and towering rocky mountains. Overnight stay in Bindrabani.
Day 6: Chitkul to Tabo
After breakfast, Drive through cross country landscape initial part of the drive follows the river bed of the Sutlej river, From the top there are visible some interesting views of the snow covered peaks. Dinner and overnight stay at the camps in Tabo.
Day 7: Tabo
Today you will explore the popular attraction of Tabo. Visit Dhankar (3870 m) & Tabo Monasteries (3050 m). Tabo monastery is a thousand years old and second in importance only to the Tholing Gompa in Tibet.
Day 8: Tabo to Losar
After breakfast, drive to Ki Monastery (4116 m)and Kibber Village ( one of the highest motorable villages in the world) where you will reach after 5 hr. The locals here offer a nice of blend of Hindu and Buddhist cultures. Dinner and overnighst stay at Losar.
Day 9: Losar to Manali
After breakfast, drive to Manali via Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass. Our services will be finished at Manali.
