The Charan Paduka is perched at an elevation of 3,380 feet above sea level. According to Hindu mythology, it was here that Lord Vishnu put his foot first. As per the references cited in Bhagwat Puran, Uddhav the minister of Lord Krishna took the Charan Paduka of the deity to get rid of his wrongdoings.

Positioned on Narayan Parvat, Charan Paduka can be easily reached by commencing a short trek of 3 km, after which you need to take the swift flight of stairs. This uphill trek will hardly take 1.5 hours to complete.
By Road: Since Badrinath is a devout place for Hindus, it is well connected with major destinations of India. Buses to cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Srinagar run at regular intervals from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi. The travellers can easily catch a bus or hire a taxi from Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli etc. to reach Badrinath.
By Rail: Rishikesh railway station situated 294 km before Badrinath on NH58 is the nearest railhead. It is well connected with the major cities of India by metalled roads. Trains are frequent to Rishikesh and one can easily take a bus or taxi from Rishikesh railway station to reach Badrinath.
By Air: Dehradun’s Jolly Grant airport located about 311 km from Badrinath is the nearest domestic airport. It operates daily flights to Delhi and taxis to Badrinath can be easily available from here.
