Ukhimath is the nearest town to Baniyakund and the locals residing at Baniyakund get their ration supplies from there.
The drive from Ukhimath to Baniyakund is well paved and goes through dense forest line; few villages can be seen on the way with staggering views of snow clad mountains peeking from every turn you take. There is an old traditional route to Tungnath Temple from Baniyakund itself. You can even start your trek to Chopta from this place and further continue walking to the highest temple of Lord Shiva – Tungnath & Chandrashila Peak.
Chopta: Chopta is a beautiful hill station located in Uttarakhand, which is known for its scenic beauty and is a paradise for trek lovers.
Tungnath: It is the highest temple of Lord Shiva and one of the sacred Panch Kedar located on the Chandranath parbat in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.
Dugalbitta: Wrapped in the beautiful land of Chopta, Dugalbitta or Duggalbitta is a small hamlet which is a halt for travelers coming to Chopta or visiting Char Dham.
Chandrashila: Seated at an elevation of 4,000 metres, Chandrashila is the summit of the Chandranath Parvat on which the Tungnath temple of Panch Kedar is situated.Deoria Tal: Deoria Tal also spelled as ‘Devaria’ or ‘Deoriya’ is a pristine lake situated at an altitude of 2,438 metres in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state. One can witness the awe-inspiring reflection of the majestic Chaukhamba on the crystal clear water of the lake.
In Baniyakund there are few budget hotels and resorts where you can stay for your Chopta visit. These hotels provide you with basic amenities. But we would highly recommend you to stay at Meraki Mayadeep Hotel in Dugalbitta. There are 3 road side eateries (dhaba) which offers lunch and dinner to travellers.
There is a shop in Baniyakund from where you can get trekking equipments and snow boots (shoes) on rent for trekking in Chopta Region, mainly for Tungnath and Chandrashilla trek.
Winter: Due to heavy snowfall in year 2019 this place remained cut off for a few odd days in the month of January & February. Hotels stop operating here during this time of the year. The roads to Baniyakund are occasionally closed during that time; do get an update about the road conditions before visiting.
Summers: During summers Baniyakund welcomes you with pleasant weather. The sky remains clear making the scenic sight of this small hamlet look more gorgeous. Freshness of colorful flowers and plants can be found all around.
Monsoons: In monsoons the cloudy weather and the lush greenery makes this place a scenic beauty. Due to rains the routes around the place gets slippery.

Baniyakund is situated on Ukhimath - Gopeshwar route in main Chopta hamlet. You can hire tata sumo or other vehicle to reach to this location. However a daily morning bus from Ukhimath to Gopeshwar is also available.
