Now tourist can enjoy Fish Angling in the five rivers of Chamoli districts. The fisheries and tourism department have prepared fish angling plans in Nandakini, Alakananda, Nigol river, Pinder river and Pokhari river in the district. There are 32 angling places have been selected in every 5 kms distance along the rivers. The forest department also helped in selecting these locations for fish angling.

Trout fish are found in large quantities in Chamoli District and the latest decision to allowing angling is likely to attract high number of tourists. Tourist department of the Chamoli District has planned to link the rivers with self-employment. The plan prescribes beets for fish angling along rivers. Survey is going on these days for this project.The price for fish angling is decided for foreign tourists would be Rs 2,200, For Indian tourists Rs 150 and Rs 20 for locals.
The Fish angling would only be allowed for “catch and free,” (catch and release) wherein the visitors can catch the fish and release it in the river.
A 5 km area in the river has been identified by authorities for fish angling. The role of local peoples is extremely important in the project as they are aware of the location where the possibilities of finding fish are more. They also get some training by the experts for this project, now they will help the tourists and act as a guide.
