It has a popular Hindu pilgrimage to the "Gomukh" temple i.e. the snout of the glacier as well as some very popular trekking routes (Gomukh, Nandanvan, Tapovan, Satopanth, Vasuki tal, Kalindi pass and a lot more) passing through it. The entrance to the park is 2 kms from Gangotri.
